Motivation: "Having lost my parents at the age of 10 and experienced a lot of challenges while growing up, i am passionate about supporting young people to achieve their aspirations and dreams. In UECD i am heavily involved in mentoring students and supporting other organisational activities."
Gloria was first told about UECD in 2001 by her friend Doreen (the pioneer student beneficiary). After closely following UECD’s impressive work, she agreed to join the Uganda Board in 2012.
Dr Gloria Seruwagi’s wide-ranging background includes extensive experience as a public health specialist, social work practitioner, policy analyst, researcher and educator specialising in system strengthening and issues affecting vulnerable groups. Most of her work is in the education and health sectors; with children and youth, women and local communities. Gloria is a university lecturer who hastaught and published on issues relating to public health and well-being; health systems; policy and the key role of community – particularly in relation tovulnerable populations. She has consulted widely in the areas of social protection, system strengthening, policy analysis, programme development and evaluation in Uganda, the Great Lakes Region and abroad.
